How Classrooms Use Blogs!! 9/6/08

The first blog I found was Mrs.Gibbons 2nd grade classroom at Willowdale Elementary School in Omaha, NE. The purpose of this website was for students and parents to be able to keep up with everything that is going on in their class. In their blogs they talk about what new things they have learned, learning and soon to be learning. they do daily updates about activities and field trips, they also have weekly and monthly events posted. Which each child is allowed to personally post blogs too.In order to find out more you can visit Mrs Gibbons 2nd grade blog at http://www.mpsomaha.org

The Second classroom blog I found was, Mrs. Putnams 5th grade class at Salem Elementary School in Salem Mass. This blogs is pretty much like the other but i found it just a little more interesting. In this class blogs it tells what they have for homework everynight and through out the week. It also gives CONGRATS to students that have done well in their studies and tells the about what they are studying and reading at the moment. But the coolest thing about this blog is that they are from SALEM!!!! So I know that they have a fun HAlloween... which is soon to come!!!

DiD YOu kNow?? 9/1/08

After watching the presentation of Did You Know ? I was completely thrown for a loop hole .. I must say that it is pretty amazing to see how all these countries have become so knowledgeable but yet kinda sad to see how far behind we as a country are. Technology is growing at a very fast rate but it seems we are allowing everyone to get ahead of us... Since we are living in a new era, we see that almost everyone relies on some kind of technology just to make it through the day or be able to complete everyday tasks. I agree with the views of the video, as educators old and new we need to be aware of all of these new technologies in order to prepare us as well as students to succeed in the future. In the video it states we have the opportunity as individuals to put the world in every child's hand, and personally I think that is every educators goal.

ACCESS... 8/30/08

Access or better known as The Alabama Connecting Classroom, Educators, and Students Statewide is a newly introduced program that has been set up in many high schools to help students wanting to receive higher education ..... Just as we college students take online classes, now is available for high school students too, they are able to access a higher course online. This gives the he or she the opportunity to take advanced placement courses that are not offered at their school. Personally I think Access is a great program because in high school education is somewhat limited and with the new Access program students can go online and receive higher level courses. Which by the time he or she graduate they will have more knowledge of what they need to expect in college and the future.
